Tank!

Even though I hate Anime with a fiery passion, I will concede that some good has come of it, minimal as though it may be. This good being the theme song to 'Cowboy Bebop,' a song by the name of "Tank!"

What is goth?

It's YTMND wednesday!

This is a very special cover of Haddaway's classic "What is love?" Done as a black ode to, er, asking people to not hurt me anymore.

One question; What is Haddaway up to these days? I just imagine him sitting around a pool with a couple of fly honeys, Mojito in hand, looking cool.

The geekiest angel

I now present to you what will likely be the geekiest thing you have ever heard; I present 'R2D2, We wish you a merry Christmas' from Christmas in the Stars, the Star Wars christmas album. And season be damned, I don't care if it's summer, sometimes we just need a little christmas spirit.

So go ahead, indulge yourself in some lovely geekdom.

Naive Song

From the French DJ Mirwais' only full length album, Production, we have the Naive song. I really don't have much to say about it, really. It's just an amazing track.

Down in Mexico

Today's track is a brand new cut from 1956, hot off of the soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof." In a soundtrack full of old school muscle, much like the movie, this track stands out. The Coaster's first hit track is something you could still play at a club today, and get everyone dancing to. Even I might get on the floor.

More likely I'd have some involuntary movement while watching from the side with my drink, but that's something.

Jesus, etc.

From Wilco's current live opus, Kicking Television, comes "Jesus, etc." This song isn't a headliner, nor the strongest from the set, but it serves as an excellent gateway into Wilco's sound for the uninitiated. Live, there is a warmth to Tweedy's music absent from the studio releases, making for a more accessible sound.
In case you were wondering, Wilco plays what is described as Alt-Country.

House of the Rising Sun

This is Muse's cover of the Animals venerable track 'House of the Rising Sun.' The original is a sombre, blues-rock song that has been covered by every artist imaginable. If that's so, what makes this any different?
Energy, Muse puts such an infusion of raw noise into the song that it becomes a call to arms, rather than a dirge.

Inaugural post

Welcome to Witty name, my new mp3-blog. I'll posting new tracks for you to hear every monday, wednesday, and friday (Even though today is Sunday).

Today's beat is 'Ghostwriter,' by RJD2, from his first album, Dead Ringer. This is the most accessible of the songs from the former producer, and easily the smoothest on the album. Throughout, the layers keep on coming, giving us a steady beat, and some pumping brass, all together making what I'd call a chill out track.
